We were welcomed at the airport by a mob of family and friends! :) It was great! The pictures and videos are slowly coming in so once I have my favorites saved to my computer I will begin to upload them to share. Marni was the first one to run up to us as we came out of immigrations; Alyssa was holding my hand on one side and with the other arm she reached up ready to hug her new big sister who was running towards us. They were so sweet. Nadia wheeled as hard as she could up the little hill, got some help from Yana and came in for her hug with Alyssa. Everyone was happy to see our new little celebrity!
Alyssa had daddy wrapped around her little finger right from, "here's your daddy!" and she was placed hin his arms. She loves her daddy so much already. She loves playing with his beard, being held by him and petting any exposed body hair she sees lol I'd say they hit it off! ;)
Once home it was so interesting to see how Alyssa took to her home. I brought her right over to the toys and the first thing she grabbed was the toy broom and dust pan. She proceeded to walk throughout the house sweeping. She is adorable! All 3 little girls were so over the top excited last night. In my heart I was thinking, how cute and my mind was thinking we need to wrap this up and get to bed before I lose my mind lol Long trip home and LOTS of squealing and jumping baby girls lol
We moved Alyssa's toddler bed into our room for her initial adjustment. When she woke up this morning she came over to me. I know the routine, to the bathroom to ditch those wet pull ups. Then I brought her back into our bed and snuggled her between Dan and I. She seemed more peaceful than ever and fell back to sleep for 2 more hours. Could it be she feels safe in our arms already?
It is so interesting watching her. She seems to be just soaking it all in and loving it. So much more to do here but not so overly stimualting. Seeing how our home has been child-proofed for Marni, it has made things a lot easier for us already. We were still learning with Marni, this time we come totally prepared lol
So Alyssa is doing great but we really need to rid her of that naughty behavior. The excitement that Nadia and Marni initially felt has quickly come down to a more realistic level. They've been pushed, pinched, and pulled. Marni is hilarious! She kept trying to herd Alyssa here and there but we will not allow her. So I will tell her, "do not touch her." So now if Alyssa touches Marni at all she pulls away and has a small dramatic episode because she doesn't want to be touched either then lol Alyssa has done some "Marni" like things like swinging a beaded necklace in the girls' faces she didn't learn it from Marni though, just some of her naughty behavior. This has got Marni sooo confused like, "Wait a minute, are YOU the new ME?!" I'v seen Marni smack her hand to her own forehead and rest her face there for a minute a few times today like, "oh my gosh, what just happened to my life?" lol She'll be okay but I think she may have the biggest adjustment at all.
Well, I've been posting this from my phone from my bed in our pitch balck bedroom while I was waiting for Alyssa to fall asleep for her nap. She stopped squirming around and I here deep, heavy breathing. I think she is out. Now to get some stuff done while I don't have to keep a constant eye on the new baby.
Thanks for praying us home!!
Welcome home!!!! I LOVED watching your video! Such an amazingly beautiful family :)!
ReplyDeleteI loved your video!
ReplyDeleteWow, Michelle...between seeing the huge, open hug Alyssa gave Marni and the way Alyssa seemed totally smitten with Dan and his beard- just so awesome to see! So, so glad that she seems like she's going to fit right in. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! Praying for your adjustment period and that Alyssa quickly settles into "gentle" behaviors. So hard to learn when they have known everything but gentle! HUGS!
